Dr. Lowrance was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Savannah, Tennessee. After graduating from Hardin County Central High School he attended junior college at Freed-Hardeman, located in Henderson, Tennessee, and then went on to earn his degree in Abilene, Texas. In 1975 Dr. Lowrance earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. From this time on Dr. Lowrance has dedicated his time to becoming the best dentist possible. To expand his dental knowledge he attended several years of post-graduate training at the highly prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). At LVI Dr. Lowrance received training in the field of neuromuscular dentistry along with Advanced Cosmetics Dentistry. Attending LVI has allowed Dr. Lowrance to act first as a neuromuscular dentist so that every patient’s treatment plan is focused around fundamental, neuromuscular principles. He takes great pride in becoming one of the select few neuromuscular and sleep apnea dentists that have undergone the vigorous and costly course work at LVI.
With neuromuscular dentistry ideals in mind, Dr. Lowrance has also spent time learning about treating sleep apnea, especially obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Dr. Lowrance often uses neuromuscular techniques and appliances in order to properly treat the condition that unknowingly affects so many patients each year. Through the use of advanced neuromuscular dentistry principles, Dr. Lowrance is able to properly reposition the jaw so that the airway is kept open while you sleep. This prevents any type of blockage or airway constriction that may be the root cause of your sleep apnea. Dr. Lowrance has learned the importance of working with a sleep physician to properly diagnose and treat such a condition and has been able to help hundreds of patients each year.
